Team San Francisco just won the inaugural TrackTown Summer Series professional meet at Hayward Field. In competition against three other teams, each member of the San Franciscan team took home $1,000! As team member Erik Sowinski who also won the men’s 800 meters said: “The team competition brings a lot more to it, too. I was really happy to be a part of it.”
Meanwhile, at the San Francisco Marathon while the women’s division winner hailed from Oakland (28-year-old Tori Tyler), the men’s division winner took the trophy home to San Francisco in the hands of 30-year-old Max Haines-Stiles, coming in at 2:30:42.
Also last month, for the third consecutive year, San Francisco hosted the Modern Ethnic Fashion Show Gala (#MODEFA). The one-day, cross-cultural event (held at the SOMArts Cultural Center) featured: an art auction, comedy, exhibitions, guest speakers and live music. At the event, Malia Cohen (Supervisor of District 10 of San Francisco) awarded her production team with a certificate of Honor and Merit on behalf of the City and County of San Francisco “for doing such a wonderful job in promoting art and culture to celebrate peace and cultural diversity.”
