Toward the end of July, On Sunday, over 25,000 runners took part in the 38th running of The San Francisco Marathon. It marked the first time that it was ever officially sanctioned as a USA Track & Field qualifier race for the 2016 Olympic Team Trials. However, not one runner qualified for the Olympic trials.
There were a couple of logistical glitches and runners did complain about not knowing which direction to take, but other than that the event went off very smoothly. Chris Mocko of San Francisco came in first for the men and Anna Bretan of Berkeley came in first for the women.
A staggering $200,000+ was raised for charity partners.
