Dems Hold Onto California…Barely

In San Francisco, a polling inspector broke into a ballot-counting machine and stole up to 75 ballots and a memory pack, as well as a voting roster and other materials from the election on Tuesday. The director of elections John Arntz reported that it happened around 4 o’clock pm. The inspector also took a teenage worker’s cellphone. The authorities have the name of the culprit, and are currently involved in ongoing investigations.

Anyway, unlike the rest of the country the Democrats seem to have had the stronger side in the elections on Tuesday. In the battle for California Governor, Democratic Attorney General Jerry Brown ended up the victor over his Republican challenger Meg Whitman. Incumbent Democratic U.S. Senator Barbara Boxer was also declared the winner over Republican contender Carly Fiorina. Gavin Newsom, Democratic mayor of San Francisco was projected winner over Republican incumbent Abel Maldonado on Wednesday morning.
