Give Breast Cancer the Boot in San Francisco

Last week, a Wild West-themed concert was held at the Great American Music Hall. The event was launched in support of UC San Francisco’s Carol Franc Buck Breast Care Center, as well as other breast cancer programs. Entitled ‘Give Breast Cancer the Boot,’ the concert was co-chaired by Jessica Galloway and Hilary Newsom.  The evening’s music included Poor Man’s Whisky, and special guest Dr. Laura Esserman attended as well. Guests were instructed to come in casual attire, but wearing their “favorite boots!”

The Carol Franc Buck Breast Care Center, or BCC, at the University of California, San Francisco, has become famous throughout the US for its state-of-the-art care and innovative science. The team, led by Dr. Laura Esserman, works to provide individual and customized breast cancer treatment and prevention plans, based on every woman’s particular biology and preference.

The ‘Give Breast Cancer the Boot’ event has supported several clinical trials in the past, including I-SPY 2. The trial works to provide more clarity and knowledge about breast cancer, and has the support of the FDA, the National Cancer Institute and numerous other cancer-focused programs.
