Muni Works to Increase Bike-Riding in the City

According to a Muni spokesman Paul Rose, San Francisco Municipal Railway buses and light-rail vehicles will now permit transportation of foldable bicycles. The measure is part of the SF Municipal Transit Agency’s bicycle plan, which aims to encourage riding throughout the city.

According to Rose, the folding bike measure was not implemented with many of SFMTA’s original changes because they “just wanted to make sure we were moving as safe and as appropriately as possible.”

Now, travelers must fold their bikes before boarding, and keep them close and away from passengers and wheelchairs while riding. Racks on the fronts of the buses will enable transport of non-foldable bikes.
