San Francisco Zoo Welcomes Two

anteatersThe San Francisco Zoo has recently welcomed two new additions to its institute. On December 22nd a baby anteater was born to a two year old, first time mother. The father is twelve years old, and is called Angelo. The new baby is the first giant anteater to be born at the zoo in over a decade. These anteaters can grow to be up to eight feet long, not including their tails.

A new hippo also resides in the zoo now. His name is Tucker, and he was transferred via cargo plane from Topeka for free, thanks to a donation from FedEx. “Although the journey was long and he spent 45 hours in a crate, he gingerly backed out of the crate and into his night quarters and was ready to meet his fans this morning,” said a spokesperson.
