SFMTA’s Fare Increase to Take Effect on July 1st

The San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency (SFMTA) has reminded the city that the increase of Muni fare (from $1 to $2) will begin on July 1st. Parking fee and fine changes will also come into effect then. The increase also includes passes and stickers that will be used in July, even if they are purchased in June.

Improving Service Value

“Our first priority is to improve the quality and value of services we provide for the city,” explained Tom Nola, Chairman of the agency’s Board of Directors. “By taking proactive measures such as creating the Agency’s first financial reserve, identifying internal efficiencies and implementing moderate increases, we can serve this priority and plan for fiscal sustainability. “

Tough Choices

SFMTA’s Executive Director and CEO Nathaniel P. Ford Sr. said “There is no doubt that our recent budget deficits have required us to make tough choices that we do not take lightly. We are working hard to ensure the financial stability of this agency while providing the highest quality of service to all of our transportation customers.”
