Tony Bruno’s Controversial Ramon Ramirez Twitter Post Met With Outrage

“Gutless @#!*&$# Giants! Bochy is a coward for having his illegal alien pitcher hit a guy since mighty Frisco boys….”

That was the tweet posted by Tony Bruno on Friday night, causing a major uproar online. The post came after Giant’s pitcher Ramon Ramirez hit Phillies’ Shane Victorino with a pitch, causing a brawl.

As a die-hard Phillies fan, the talk show host took his outrage overboard with the Twitter post, which was quickly removed. An angry apology was posted shortly after, but the damage was done.

Bruno posted “I did remove my post and apologize for my comments regarding illegal aliens. I was angry and on the air and I stand behind my comments that Bruce Bochy is a coward, as are all managers who order pitchers to throw at guys just because their pitchers can’t get a guy out. All of you people resorting to name calling are more classless and vile.”

Lee Hammer, the operations manager at KNBR, did not say if and what effects the comment would have on Bruno’s status with the station.

Many anti-hate speech groups targeted Bruno shortly after the Twitter post.

“This guy is a pig,” said Alex Nogales of the National Hispanic Media Coalition. “In this day and age, using this kind of language, which encourages intolerance and hate crimes, is inexcusable.”
