Free San Francisco Activities

beerIt can be challenging to keep everyone amused over the summer vacations.  And then, even when the kids do eventually go back to school they always seem to be looking for things to do.  The trick is, to find San Francisco activities that don’t break the bank; preferably ones that don’t cost anything.

Herewith is a roundup of some fun free San Francisco activities for the whole family.  First, on Friday nights there are a whole array of art events at the De Young.  Get some free beer at the Anchor Brewers & Distillers as they celebrate their sailing traditions.  This is because Anchor Steam® Beer was named the official beer and Junípero® Gin the official gin of Oracle Team USA, the city’s hometown team and 34th America’s Cup Defender.   Don’t forget to book ahead of time.

For parents who need to destress after the long summer vacation juggling work and kids, there are many free yoga classes being offered in the region.  Every Saturday morning San Francisco Recreation and Parks offer a free class at the Golden Gate Park.  And then there are the ‘laughter yoga’ classes offered by the UCSF.

For those looking for a bit more of a workout, there are the Filbert Steps – see if you can climb every San Francisco staircase. Or go skating in Golden Gate Park on Sunday mornings at the 6th Avenue skate park.

There are many free San Francisco activities – it’s just a case of figuring out which one (or ones) are most suited to your desires.
